The protection of the environment has highest priority for all our activities. Wastewater, air and noise emissions as well as solid waste generation are monitored and reduced wherever possible. We commit ourselves to use energy and natural resources efficiently.

Many of our companies are involved in storage and transportation of petroleum products. We are aware of the associated responsibility for people and nature. Therefore, we focus our efforts on preventing environmental damage and a purposive quick response to emergency situations. As a responsible company, Marquard & Bahls decided to become a shareholder of Oil Spill Response - the world's largest organisation for spill response - to be well prepared for emergency situations.

In the last years we have performed Environmental Site Assessment on nearly all our world-wide storage facilities on a voluntary basis. As a preventive measure we monitor the groundwater quality on a regular basis. The obtained data is evaluated centrally by our environmental experts.
