A central point of our effort to conduct our business activities in a safe, healthy and environment-friendly manner is the training and education of our employees.

Due to the variety of activities within the Marquard & Bahls Group it is important to evaluate all risks individually. Based on this analysis we establish tailor-made standards and work instructions.

One important tool used to minimise risks is our global incident reporting system. To prevent accidents or their reoccurrence, all incidents are carefully reviewed and analysed. If necessary, HSSE Alerts are sent to the relevant subsidiaries to be displayed and discussed with all employees. We have implemented a system of regular internal and external HSSE audits to monitor compliance and to benchmark our standards.

We have a vital interest in the safe operation of tankers and terminals. Therefore, Marquard & Bahls is a member of the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and the European Barge Inspection Scheme (EBIS), to be actively involved in promoting continuous improvement in standards of design and operation.
